Fifth Retro Sports Day raises a whopping £57,000 for FireFit Hub, smashing last year’s record

26 June 2026

The stakes were high for the fifth annual Retro Sports Day as a record 43 teams competed across two days for the very first time, raising a record-breaking £57,000. The money will go towards much needed improvements of the FireFit Hub’s sports hall, which is the most used space by young people in the entire building.

The sports hall is used by hundreds of children and young people each week, providing a safe space to try new things and stay active with their friends in a safe environment, supported by youth workers. The sports hall is the core of the FireFit Hub's Sports zone, offering young people a range of sporting activities alongside the Chill and Creative zones.

Local organisations and Torus Group suppliers and colleagues were amped up to win, with competition strong across returning retro sport pros and eager newbies. From gutter ball to the egg and spoon race, and body-ball to the showpiece inflatable obstacle course, skills were tested across the two sunny days at the FireFit Hub.

It was a strong showing from every team, but the podium positions and trophy winners were:

Day One

1st: CPC Project Services

2nd: Castle Green Homes

3rd: Constructive Thinking Studio Limited

Day Two

1st: Torus Developments

2nd: City Electrical Factors

3rd: Castle Green Homes

Torus Developments took first place on day two and overall, with the fastest times across both days. For the first time in Retro Sports Day history, we had not one but two ties: with the final result being decided by a close couple of rounds of football darts.

A special thank you to our incredible Retro Sport Day sponsors. Our Platinum sponsor this year was Castle Green Homes, with AJF Engineering Consultants, Arcus Consulting, Capsticks LLP, CEF, Simon Fenton Partnerships and Weightmans as our Gold sponsors.

Kate Shone, Managing Director, Torus Foundation said:

“FireFit Hub is at the heart of the work we do with young people at Torus Foundation. It gives young people living in Liverpool a safe and supportive space to have fun, learn new skills and develop confidence to be the people they’re meant to be. The generous contributions of our sponsors and participants will mean that we can now provide an even stronger offer, enriching the lives of young people across the city.”

Castle Green Homes senior partnerships manager Chris McAllister said:

“The Torus Foundation Retro Sports Day is a fantastic event and one we’re proud to support through sponsorship and participation. It’s lots of fun, great for team building and networking. There’s always some friendly competition between teams, but the real winners are the young people of Toxteth who will benefit as a result of the fundraising from the event.”

Steph Hill, Business Development and Fundraising Manager at Torus Foundation said:

“We’re thrilled to have been able to celebrate our fifth annual Retro Sports Day by smashing our previous targets and attendee numbers. Retro Sports Day has become a milestone event in many of our partners’ calendars and we’re so grateful to see so many teams return to FireFit Hub each year. This is the power of social value partnerships, bringing teams together for fun and friendly competition, while making real impact in our community.”
